The Turtle Armor is a type of Armor that provides melee bonuses, a lot of defense (the third best defense in the game), and the full set also returns full damage to your enemies once it hits the wearer with a melee attack, similar to the Thorns potion effect. However, each piece of the armor makes enemies more likely to target you.
When wearing the full set, the player's back has a turtle shell on it. This will cause any Wings the player is wearing to be hidden until they take flight, at which point the shell is replaced by wings.
Despite the armor being amazing defensive armor, it is not the best melee armor, seeing that the pre-hardmode molten armor gives more melee damage. Thus, it fits more for a player who wants more defense than attack. For better attack but less defense, Chlorophyte Armor with the mask should be crafted instead. It is also good to use during the Pumpkin Moon and Frost Moon events, as good defense is important and the thorns effect.
Turtle Armor can be combined with multiple Beetle Husks to create the Beetle Armor, which has higher defense and powerful melee-based bonuses, but will not have the thorns effect of the Turtle Armor.

Tips and Strategies[]
- Farming Turtle Shells can be very frustrating.
- If playing with friends, this armor (and Paladin's Shield or an ally using Spectre Armor) is useful for defending players with lower Defense; since enemies will target you more, this can allow them to assist more, or get away without being pursued.
- This armor is extremely good for defensive and melee combat types, but is not recommended for caster or ranger-type players.
- The Thorns effect will also knock back enemies when they damage the player when the Titan Glove, Power Glove, Mechanical Glove, or Fire Gauntlet is equipped.
- However, it does not stack with Thorns Potion.
- Having turtle armor when tackling the Golem is very helpful as it can easily negate some of its attacks. Also, it will allow the crafting of beetle armor (the next tier) almost on the spot.
