Speed is a weapon and tool value that determines how long it takes for an item's animation to complete. Terraria's engine determines speed using the useAnimation value - one useAnimation increment equals one frame or 1/60th of a second. An item with a useAnimation of sixty is used in one second, or sixty frames with Terraria running at 60 frames per second (FPS). Running at 30 FPS, the same animation requires only thirty frames.
