The Soul of Light is one of the 6 souls that monsters can drop after the Wall of Flesh has been killed. Souls of Light can be dropped by any monster that normally would spawn in the Hallow, as long as there is a sufficient number of Pearlstone Blocks in the vicinity.

You will need a total of 127 Souls of Light to craft all items, including a full stack of Light Discs.

Potential Farming Methods[]

It is possible to make an artificial Hallow/Corruption/Crimson Biome in the underworld that does not spawn Hallow Biome creatures. By placing at least 146 (~96 in a small world) blocks of Ebonstone/Crimstone (which can be transformed into Pearlstone, with Holy Water) or Pearlstone so that they all are on screen at the same time, underworld monsters will begin dropping the respective souls. The player's proximity to the placed stones is what causes the monsters to drop souls. If you move the placed blocks off-screen, the monsters will cease to drop souls, but monsters killed at the edge of the screen while the blocks are on screen will still drop souls. If you have a spider biome in your underground hallow it could be a good idea to farm light souls there due to the massive amount of enemies.

Notes[]

  • Like all other Souls, the Soul of Light ignores gravity.
  • The placed blocks will not cause monsters from their biome to spawn as long as they are on-screen. If the blocks are off-screen, it is possible for some monsters from that Biome to spawn. Confirmed are Enchanted Sword and Cursed Hammer.
  • Also, by using a Grappling Hook to grapple above lava in the Underground Hallow, you can wait for enemies to die underneath you, and then collect the Souls Of Light using an Obsidian Skin Potion.
  • Any mobs (i.e Skeleton Archers, Armored, Heavy, ect.) that wander into the Underground Hallow can drop Soul of Light. (Same applies to Underground Corruption.)
  • A viable method to farm Souls of Light or Night is to place ~50 Meteorite Ore in a square formation in the Underground Hallow/Corruption/Crimson. The Meteor heads that spawn will each have a chance to drop the souls, and as they spawn quite quickly, this can be a very quick and efficient method. (This method only works in the current mobile version)
  • The drop rate for Souls of Light are 1/5 or 20%, and in Expert Mode it is 1/3 (33%).

Bugs[]

  • In the mobile version this also can be obtained in the Overworld.
  • In the Mobile version sometimes Soul of Light drops from the enemies within the Hallow Surface.
