The Skeleton Statue is a functional Statue that resembles a Skeleton. When wired to a Trigger and activated, Skeletons will spawn. Up to three statue-spawned skeletons may be alive at a time. This statue can be used to farm Hooks. The Skeletons from the Skeleton Statue will also drop Bone Swords, Skulls, Ancient Gold Helmets, Ancient Iron Helmets and Skeleton Banners. However, the Skeletons do not drop coins.
As of 1.3, these may be found underground in the form of a trap. Near the statue, a pressure plate is hidden. Another is next to the statue. Stepping on the hidden plate triggers a Skeleton, which then steps on the plate by the statue and triggers another skeleton, and so on. In Hard Mode this can be effective for harvesting souls, but will negatively impact spawn rates of other creatures.
