The Shadow Scale is a crafting material only obtainable by fighting the Eater of Worlds. Shadow Scales are vital ingredients in most Demonite tier equipment.
You will need 56 Shadow Scales to craft all the items — 45 for the full armor set and 11 for the Nightmare Pickaxe and The Breaker.

- It is not necessary to kill the Eater of Worlds completely because each section of the boss has a chance to drop this item.
