The Shadewood Sword is a broadsword crafted from 7 Shadewood, found from The Crimson Biome. It is stronger than a normal Wooden Sword and slightly stronger than the Rich Mahogany Sword, dealing 10 damage instead of 8, and having a faster use time than the Rich Mahogany Sword, although the use time's speed increase might be hard to notice.
While it is an acceptable weapon for early game, the risk involved in getting it might not be worth the trouble.
