Pylons are a category of placeable furniture items which allow access to the "Pylon Network", which allows players to quickly traverse large portions of the map.
Varieties[]
There is one pylon per non-evil biome, plus one with no biome restrictions:
- Forest Pylon
- Ocean Pylon
- Desert Pylon
- Cavern Pylon
- Snow Pylon
- Jungle Pylon
- Hallow Pylon
- Mushroom Pylon
- Universal Pylon
Pylons only function when they are placed in their respective biome.
Availability[]
With the exception of the Universal Pylon, pylons can be purchased from any vendor NPC who is sufficiently happy. Eligible NPCs will have for sale every pylon associated with the biome the player is in when they talk to NPC.
The Universal Pylon can be purchased from the Zoologist when the bestiary reaches 100% completion.
Note that although any number of any type of pylon can be purchased, only one of each type can be placed in the world at a time.
Function[]
If at least two pylons are placed within the world, any player can interact with one in order to teleport to another, so long as the following conditions are met:
- Both of the pylons are in the appropriate biome
- At least two NPCs are near both pylons
- No bosses or invasion events (excluding the Celestial Event) are active on the world
- Invasions will stop pylon use merely from being announced
