The Nettle Burst is a hardmode spell that fires an extensible thorn vine capable of passing through terrain and damaging multiple targets, with a maximum range of 24 tiles. The thorn lingers for a few seconds before fading away. It has a 14.29% chance to be dropped by Plantera.
Functionally, it is a direct upgrade from both: Vilethorn and Crystal Vile Shard, dealing the highest damage out of the two weapons, though the latter has the fastest projectile velocity and higher knockback, it inflicts lower damage, consume more mana and have a slower use time.
The Nettle Burst is capable of landing 9 successive hits into the same target (higher than Vilethorn's 7) and each segment deals the stated weapon damage. Despite having a low base damage, the ability to land several hits into the same target and the relative long lingering time, assuming the enemy stays within the area of effect, this spell can deliver up to 252 damage without stat-increasing buffs/items, making it a solid weapon choice for events or large crowds of enemies.
The best prefix for this weapon is Mythical.
