Master Mode is a world option added in 1.4. The Master mode was created to be a brutal, hardcore version of the Expert Mode, with enemies sporting a significant bump in their stats, more so than in the former expert mode. (The buff in the stats is applied over their Expert-Mode values, rather than their base value).

Expert-Mode exclusive items, such as treasure bags, carry over to the Master Mode, with each boss dropping their respective treasure bag, in addition to bonus drop exclusive to this difficulty setting.

This is the hardest difficulty option in Terraria, and the stat buffs from monsters are very high. Be sure to experience yourself in Expert-Mode, or gain more skill and knowledge before trying it out.

Changes[]

General Changes:[]

All enemies and bosses will gain a massive increase in their health (50% Increase over their Expert-Mode stats and three times higher than their Normal mode stats).

In Master Mode, players will drop all their money on death (100% coin drop), compared to Expert (75%) and Normal (50%) modes respectively.

Players in Master Mode will have access to one extra accessory slot right from the beginning, of which can be expanded further with the use of a Demon Heart, granting 7 slots total.

Bosses:[]

They gain a 25% drop chance to drop a pet-summoning item based on themselves, a 100% chance to drop a Relic, which is a golden statue of themselves, upon defeat.

In addition to their Master-Mode exclusive drops, bosses will retain their Expert Mode treasure bag drops as well.

Tips[]

  • It is recommended you get strong armor before fighting a boss, as it's much more difficult in master mode.
