Giant Bat is a flying enemy found underground during Hardmode. They are a stronger variant of the Cave Bat, with more than double the stats and the ability to inflict the Confused debuff.
Due to their abilities, they can be a nuisance for players recently activating hardmode, as the confusing debuff can take the player off guard, and send them towards stronger enemies nearby, however, their slighty larger hitbox makes them somewhat easier to hit when compared to the pre-hardmode cave bat.

The Giant Bat's appearance and color scheme, along with the fact that it can confuse you, seems to be a reference to the Pokémon Golbat.
