The Flying Dragon is a Hardmode sword that can be obtained from defeating Betsy, the final boss of the Old One's Army.

It's firing pattern and style is very similar to the Terra Blade, but with some core differences:

  • The Flying Dragon's projectiles can pass through the terrain and pierce 3 targets, whereas the Terra Blade cannot do so.
  • The Terra Blade has higher damage and swing speed, but the projectile is slightly slower than Flying Dragon's, it also has a smaller hitbox. Additionally, both swords have the auto-reuse property.
  • This sword can drop from an enemy entity, Betsy. In order to get the Terra Blade, on the other hand, you must craft with it with the True Excalibur and Night's Edge

The main difference between those two weapons are mainly into the combat aspect. If you want to get up close and damage the enemy as much as possible, the Terra Blade may be a better option for you, but if you want to keep your range while attacking the enemy from a safe position, you may consider using this sword instead. Generally, though, the Terra Blade will probably remain the most viable sword at this point in the game, having higher damage.

Notes[]

  • This weapon continuously fires a glowing beam-like projectile. This beam can also be useful for lighting up dark caverns during exploration, as it travels through blocks.
  • The beam can hit up to three enemies before dissipating.
  • It is a slightly weaker version of the Terra Blade
