The Ash Blocks can only be found in the Underworld and are relatively useless, other than being used as a building material, or to prevent the spread of Corruption and The Hallow. Ash Blocks will not negate fall damage or burn you.

Fireblossom Seeds can be planted directly into Ash Blocks. They will also occasionally spawn naturally on Ash Blocks.
